Sahar Javedani ~ Iranian-American Choreographer and Non-Profit Consultant.

Originally from San Diego, California by way of Tehran, Iran, Sahar Javedani moved to Philadelphia in 2012 after seven years as choreographer, teacher and arts administrator in New York City. She has a Master of Fine Arts in Choreography and Integrated Media from California Institute of the Arts and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance, Theater, and French from Hollins University.

Javedani is Artistic Director of compani javedani, a contemporary dance theater ensemble devoted to creating works inspired by Iran, The Silk Road and beyond. Since 2006, compani javedani has performed at over 60 festivals and venues in New York City including Tribeca Performing Arts Center, Brooklyn Museum, Lincoln Center Out of Doors Festival, Joyce Soho, and Dance Theater Workshop, to name a few. Sahar Javedani has been an Artist-in-Residence with Voice and Vision Envision Retreat at Bard College, Tribeca Performing Arts Center and most recently Dance Theater Workshop as part of Fresh Tracks and Studo Series. Javedani was recently nominated for the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative.

In addition to creating artistic work, Javedani has over a decade of experience as an Educator (specializing in World Dance and Yoga) and Arts Administrator (Arts Education, Development, and Marketing). In addition, Javedani is currently serving a three-year term with the Americans for the Arts - Arts Education Council. Javedani continues to re-invent her aesthetic by engaging in numerous creative residencies, conferences, and laboratories to further develop and advocate her work as an Iranian-American choreographer, Arts Educator, and Business Manager.
